7 DAYS IN NEW YORK

Meanwhile almost seven years later I was happy to travel on other side of the Pond and get lost in Big Apple again.  Heavy rain showers on the second day of my visit forced me to stay indoors and create some sketches.

LATE SAN FRANCISCO JOURNAL

San Francisco is undeniable pleasure for eyes, it has so many levels, views and layers  that my visual hunger was satisfied well enough. Sometimes I had a feeling that common gravity rules do not apply to this city, it remains me a theatre stage with changing decorations, dramatic lightening and historic objects just steps away from you.

Just for a couple of dollars you can ride these charming old trams. I ignored light railway which was obviously faster and took one of those fancy vehicles and even didn't feel guilty being late for an appointment.
So obvious detail of the street for americans and so exotic for europeans.
For 6$ you can ride proper museum object.
Charming white wooden houses are looking so fragile, reminding wedding cakes.
Just next to tram stop I used to stay were set up functional public art, which was covered by layers of dry october leaves. Some of them travelled with me across the Atlantic.
San Francisco hills could be insidious. On the map it is just five blocks, but in real live that rather feels like climbing up to the wall.
This is most mysterious cinema theatre I ever visited before. I want to believe it will survive and will keep its authentic decoration and interiors.
Charming touch of asian culture and profound fortune cookie messages.

RANDOM

I got good advise from my tutor, actually to draw something completely unrelated to your big project. Anyway it is also essential not to forget about main things.

When I watch on somebody's face I spot random details before I save it in my mind.
I have quite good ability to remind faces and have disgusting memory for names.
I found a folder with pictures of vintage perfume bottles on my computer which
I've made at small perfume museum at Barcelona. Didn't find better use for them yet.

DRAWING FROM LIFE

I was suggested to draw more on locations and from life. Monmouth coffee shop at Borough market with endless flow of people was right place to start.

LONDON, ONE YEAR MORE

So, it seems that I'll stay here at my place at London for one more year. Going to see the end of SHARD construction process from my window.

TALLINN IN MY SKETCHBOOK

Was it coincidence or friday 13, but my flight London-Tallinn had plenty of empty seats. Anyway I didn't complain.

That small cafe in old town of Tallinn is full of tiny details and hidden beauty.

AMSTERDAM IN MY SKETCHBOOK

I was lucky to have my flight to London on dutch national holiday, Queens Day. As I wasn't impressed with all that orange crowds and disaster at old city center, I preferred to spend a couple of hours at Schiphol airport.
